LynxTerm

Extension of the text base web browser lynx for usage as GUI in wireless terminals in logistics.

Time:1998
Customer:INIS GmbH
Position:Development
Technologies: C, HTML, HTTP, VT100
For the usage as generic solution of vt100 terminals in Logistics I modified the OpenSource text browser Lynx. The idea is that the web server sends special markup codes to customize lynx:
  • Deactivate standard features of Lynx like history, favorites
  • Standard keyboard mapping (like 'q') must be deactivated.
  • Links must be availalbe via multiple hotkeys.
  • Internal browser functionality (Quit, Back, etc.) are customizable.
  • Because the lynx browser runs on a terminal server with up to hundreds instances the memory footprint will be minimized through usage of shared libraries.
